Coronavirus (COVID-19). What did it do to the business of Travel & Leisure Group, the number 1 estate agent for timeshare in Europe? What happened to our timeshare resale business and rentals of timeshare properties in the UK and abroad?
Not a lot!!! Buyers and sellers of timeshare throughout Europe, Middle East, Far East, USA and South America, in fact people from all over the world came to Travel & Leisure Group to find out what we could offer them in these uncertain times. It was unexpected to say the least, but pleasantly true. This is what happened to our ownership sales and rental business over the last few months.
As we are all aware, the pandemic has caused havoc in all walks of life. This is especially evident in many areas of the travel industry right now… but NOT for Travel & Leisure Group. As a timeshare estate agent, we have the major advantage that our customers are buying a long term ownership, not just a holiday for one year with numerous financial risks!
Buyers in particular, from all over the world realised that and our daily enquiries increased ten fold!
People looking to buy are often on the lookout for a specific ownership and so when they see such ownerships advertised, they are not put off buying just because of the current climate. They are planning for the long term and know that coronavirus won’t be a travel problem forever.
Whether they are looking to purchase points, weeks, vacation clubs or fractional, they are buying in the knowledge that right now. they have a whole year’s worth of usage ahead of them. Should the worst case occur and their travel plans are once again put on hold, they know that this year’s occupancy rights can of course be banked/rolled-over to next year, or even the year after that!………That is the main attraction of buying timeshare.
What a lovely thought to know that what you aren’t using now can be saved and used at a later date if need be and this is reflected in the level of buyers and sellers we are receiving… A nice big long holiday to get over these uncertain times!
The past 18 months have shown us all that COVID-19 will undoubtedly be a part of our lives for some time. Therefore we must find a way to live with coronavirus and have faith that our travel plans will once again be in place sooner rather than later. Over 80% of adults in the UK have now been double jabbed. From 4th October 2021, the traffic light system that has stopped most people going on holiday or travelling outside the UK will be scrapped with only a list of red only countries. Anywhere not on this list will be considered green and clear for travel. From that date anyone who is fully vaccinated will no longer require pre-departure testing to enter England from green listed countries. From the end of October, a lateral flow test will replace the day two PCR test for fully vaccinated travellers.
The longer we go without the vacation we truly want, the greater our needs become to finally get that holiday we all so very much need and deserve. Timeshare is the closest thing to making those holiday arrangements without commitment but with flexibility. Neither of which you’ll receive if booking a week or 2 through a traditional travel agent.
The summer is always a busy time for Travel and Leisure, It’s when the most of us are either going to, returning from, or envying those currently on holiday! This is all the more apparent at present as we enter our second summer without the freedom to travel like we did and therefore future holiday arrangements are all the more important.
We are still receiving more buying enquiries than we are people looking to sell and more importantly WE ARE SELLING! Our buying team has been extremely busy negotiating and selling ownerships over the past eight months and are dealing with potential purchasers right NOW!
Since the start of relaxing restrictions in July, we are again in the position where our enquiries have and continue to increase. This is due to people searching for that perfect getaway ownership to enjoy every year at the end of this historical phase, now that life is returning some form of normality.
However difficult this last year or so has been, it is nice to know that with the impressive coronavirus vaccine roll out, holidays are again in huge demand…So don’t hesitate. Buying, selling or renting timeshare is the right thing to do. We could say now it is a “buyer’s market”, but it is also the current owner’s opportunity to cash in the many years of wonderful holidays in the UK or many exotic places around the world. Take advantage of the increasing number of buyers looking for a short or long term holiday ownership.
